Built Wild
During the creation of "Built Wild," we embraced the unexpected. Our diverse cast and locations were only the beginning, the true essence of the film came to life in the margins. Every setup was a collaboration that turned into something larger and unexpected. We set out with a plan, but every single time that plan changed into something larger. This piece stands as a testament to collaboration. as we captured fresh, unsuspecting moments at every turn.
Creative Direction
"Built Wild" has a clear goal. Experiment with the female gaze and push the boundaries of traditional gender roles. This tone poem reimagines the relationship between women and cars. A world where women take the helm with power, freedom and strength.
Inspired by the work of Sally Mann, we settled on two rural locations in Virginia with miles of open road. had access to classic Fords and miles of open road. As we lit a giant fire, we were gifted with the dramatic spectacle of heat lightning. We sourced an Olympic equestrian, a falcon, and a woman so comfortable spinning doughnuts that she didn’t want to stop. This creative adaptability was the magic of this shoot.
