The Story
In Cambodia, the Khmer Rouge was in power from 1975 to 1979 led by Pol Pot. They disregarded human life and turned the country into a detention center, which later became a graveyard for nearly two million people. Tens of thousands were made widows and orphans, and those who lived through the regime were severely traumatized by their experiences.
Today the "Khmer Rouge Tribunal" is a court established to try senior members of the Khmer Rouge for crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide.
